Aurora

2012, HDV, 09:38 min., color, sound
Loose, fragmentary memories of a past trip to the aurora borealis in Norway are composed to an experimental film. Any images of the landscape are shown, instead private rooms draped in complete darkness. Different levels of narration – voice-over from a daughter, letter excerpts from a mother and interpretive pictures from the author of the film – remove the linear narrative structure and create a visual and acoustic situation in which inside and outside, past and present, reality and fiction correspond to each other. The theme of the film is to find out the relationship of expectations, experiences and desires reflected in the landscape, confronting inner and outer landscapes.
